Next Doctor speculation

"Regeneration is a complicated process and never as simple as it seems." So says RTD about the Christmas Special, and that phrase jumped out at me and gave me an idea. This is speculation, but just in case there is anyone out there who doesn't want to know, or even think about, the Special, I'm going under a spoiler-proof cut here.
