sensiblecat: (The Producers)
I  hate days when I  have to catch the kitties and take them to the vet. They need their vaccinations, so it's not particularly traumatic. Silkie is neurotic - she should live on Manhattan Island and be in analysis at least three times a week. She's a dark tortie with an odd light brown paw - they always seem to be a bit odd. And she knows, somehow, days in advance of the carriers coming out. She hides. Once I had to chase her up the curtains and she got her little head sandwiched somehow between the valance and the main curtain rail - I had a stinky hand by the time I freed her.

Flossie, her mum, is a different matter altogether, laid back to the point of being horizontal. It's a real Saffy/Edina partnership. You can almost see Silkie ticking Flossie off after a night out - Where were you? I was worried sick? Etc, etc.

Drove the kids to school and ran the gauntlet of Arthur Dent type students in pyjamas and bath robes collecting for Children in Need. I have to confess I am allergic to sentimental telethons so I HATE CinN. Last year of course I paid the price - I still haven't seen the Special and all that lovely hopping.

Finally looked at my finances yesterday, and with a heavy heart I cancelled my BBC pre-order for S2. I shall just have to hope Santa hears my hints. Husband has been visiting Figleaves.com. Have dropped subtle suggestions that 14 hours of Ten would probably do more to improve our sex life. Anyway I have the thought of wearing undies I haven't been able to try on.

This will be a really old-fashioned weekend. Tomorrow I'm off to the wonderful Unicorn Co-op grocery store in Chorlton to stock up on all manner of fairly traded dried fruits, sugar, nuts and other delights, then home with the pudding bowls to prepare Christmas puddings, cake and mincemeat. Yes, I still do it all myself, by hand. Every year I try to back out and the family just won't let me. We put sixpences in the pudding, they have been in the family since 1963. Since the Doctor was passing off Susan as his grand-daughter. Now, there's a thought.

Tradition! Without it our lives would be as shaky as - A Fiddler on the Roof!
