The More It Snows (tiddly pom)

Woke up this morning to 15cm of snow on the ground and it's still going strong. Never seen that before in Manchester in my lifetime. It's caused absolute chaos - 150 schools closed, Manchester Airport closed for six hours, hardly any buses - they even had to stop filming Coronation Street!
So, both kids home and neither of us at work - DH can't get in without an epic struggle and my school's not opening. Instead we've had nine teenagers in the house all day, in between huge snowball fights, and now it's getting dark and the last couple are playing Beatles Rock Band and may well stay the night - schools closed again tomorrow.
Normally, being low lying and humid, Manchester's lucky to see a light dusting, and it never lasts more than a day or two. This may be the winter when the white stuff stops being fun. I know all you Canadians and Minnesotans are probably laughing right now, but believe me, 15cm is a big deal in this neck of the woods.
Apparently there's a poor man in Cape Wrath, on the very north-west tip of Scotland, whose wife went out shopping a few days before Xmas. He's still waiting for her to come back - she's okay, but he's stranded. He says he has plenty of food in, though.
